NBC - The women's individual figure skating event, which had already been marred from the beginning by the controversy surrounding Russian teenager Kamila Valieva, capped its finale in dramatic fashion today at the 2022 Winter Olympics. While Valieva was in first place heading into the free skate, various falls and stumbles shunted her out of contention and her Russian teammate Anna Shcherbakova ending up taking first place, with Russia's Alexandra Trusova having placed second, and Japanese figure skater Kaori Sakamato claiming third. And after her score was announced, a visibly-upset Valieva was seen with her face buried in her hands and sobbing in the kiss-and-cry booth.
