The Winter Solstice's Great Conjunction
Get all the latest news, live updates & top stories on Winter solstice great conjunction
Today is 2020's Winter Solstice, otherwise known as the shortest day and longest night of the year. Today also commemorates the Great Conjunction, an event during which the two largest planets in our solar system, Jupiter and Saturn, will nearly overlap to form a "double planet," USA Today reported. Thus, this year's Winter Solstice is quite the special one since the last time a close conjunction occurred between the two planets was reportedly all the way back in the year 1226.
