CNBC - While there’s no denying that the 93rd annual Academy Awards brought a much needed spotlight on diverse talent and honored those in the industry, the ceremony all and all unfortunately turned out to be just like every other Oscars show before it. Taking a look at the numbers, only 9.85 million viewers tuned into this past Sunday’s ceremony, a nearly 59% percent drop from the 23.6 million viewers that turned on their TVs for the program last year, according early fast national numbers released by Nielsen. And not to mention, the show ended up with a mere 1.9 rating among adults 18-49, a key demographic for advertisers, a 64% drop from 2020. Hopefully things will turn out better next year, Oscars!
