NYTimes - The friendliest man in baseball is now a champion. Freddie Freeman, the Atlanta Braves’ slugger best known for smiles, small talk, and soft-serve ice cream, hit the last home run of the season and caught the throw from shortstop for the final out of the World Series. Post-game interviews with Freeman's family members suggests that he may have contributed his well-deserved victory to his beloved late mother. “Believe me, I wish I was able to hug my mom on that field,” Freeman said after the game. “But I know she’s up with my grandma right now, jumping up and down.”
