For many, this year's Daylight Savings time switch meant that everybody got an "extra" hour of sleep that day. But do keep in mind that with this new transition, days will now get darker earlier and the amount of daylight will continue to shorten each day until the winter solstice on Dec. 21. And for those who are still wondering why Daylight Savings is still upheld in this day and age; well, here's the answer: "Permanent, year-round time is the best choice to most closely match our circadian sleep-wake cycle," Public Safety Committee Vice Chair Dr. M. Adeel Rishi said in a statement. "Daylight saving time results in more darkness in the morning and more light in the evening disrupting the body's natural rhythm."
