Emmy- and Tony-winning actress Cicely Tyson, who distinguished herself in theater, film and television, has passed away today at the age of 96. At this time, Tyson's family statement did not reveal the cause of death. “I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing,” Tyson's manager, Larry Thompson, said in a statement. “Cicely thought of her new memoir as a Christmas tree decorated with all the ornaments of her personal and professional life. Today she placed the last ornament, a Star, on top of the tree.” The memoir in question, "Just As I Am" has since been released as of this past Tuesday. Cicely Tyson will surely be missed by many.
