Followers of Jesus, across several sects and denominations, will often forgo a regular meal schedule, and instead eating only one normal-sized meal and two very small ones over the course of a given 24-hour period, especially on Good Friday. Similar in theme, Ash Wednesday also effectively marks the beginning of the season of Lent. “It’s a time for renewal and introspection, both as individuals and as a society,” Monsignor Robert Gibbons of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Petersburg said.
