California is just one state that's closing its bars again amid the record jump in coronavirus cases. “COVID-19 is still circulating in California, and in some parts of the state, growing stronger,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a written statement. “That’s why it is critical we take this step to limit the spread of the virus in the counties that are seeing the biggest increases.”

NY, NJ, CT Set Quarantine Advisories

KTLA reports that governors in the northeast, once considered the US epicenter of the coronavirus, are now tightening restrictions in their states for travelers from areas that are seeing upward trends in positive coronavirus cases and hospitalizations. “As an increasing number of states around the country fight significant community spread, New York is taking action to maintain the precarious safety of its phased, data-driven reopening,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement this week. “We’ve set metrics for community spread just as we’ve set metrics for everything the state does to fight COVID-19, and eight more states have reached the level of spread required to qualify for New York’s travel advisory, meaning we will now require individuals traveling to New York from those states to quarantine for 14 days.”

Malls Need AC to Stay Open

New York malls, as a primary example, are now required to have high quality air systems that can filter out the coronavirus before they will be allowed to reopen, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said this week. High efficiency particle air filters, or HEPA filters, have been shown to help reduce the presence of Covid-19 in the air, according to a presentation from Cuomo. “Any malls that will open in New York, large malls, we will make it mandatory that they have air filtration systems that can filter out the Covid virus,” Cuomo said at a press briefing.
