Traveling During The COVID-19 Pandemic

Travelers are saying that they did the best they could to fly as safely as possible, WCNC reported this past holiday season. “I got my hand sanitizer, and always keep my mask on and making sure I social distance," said Jamar Johnson. “I’m in an aisle by myself so hopefully that’s enough,” said Kyle Smith.

23 Of The Strangest Things That Happened In FL 2020

2020 has been an odd and confusing year, to say the least. On top of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Sunshine State has had to deal with the ever-troublesome Florida man, an unusual amount of alligators, and even some things that are just too bizarre to try to fit into a neat little list. As WKMG prepared to head into the new year of 2021, here is their compilation of some of the strangest things that happened in the year 2020.

NY's Order To Fine & Revoke Healthcare License If Vaccine Law Is Violated

"Another issue popped up because every day is a new issue to deal with. Possible fraud by a health care provider. You're going to see more and more of this. The vaccine is a valuable commodity and you have many people who want the vaccine. You'll have fraud in the vaccine process. It's almost an inevitable function of human nature and of the marketplace. Vaccines are valuable and there will be people who break the law. We're looking at one health care provider who may have done that," New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo stated during the press conference.

Here's What To Do If Your Gift Card Doesn't Work

Scammers have reportedly found ways to buy gift cards, use them, and then put them back on the shelf where they're resold at retail value. The problem? Consumers get stuck with a card that has no money on it. “It happens, especially if it’s an in-store purchase," Tom Bartholomy from the Charlotte Better Business Bureau said. "Some scammers get to them first, make purchases and still leave the card hanging there on the rack."

The Viral False Accusation Of Keyon Harrold Jr.

A yet-to-be-determined woman was captured on video tackling one 14-year-old Keyon Harrold Jr. in a NYC hotel lobby as she falsely accused the teen of stealing her phone, city prosecutors stated this past Monday. The father, Keyon Harrold, a prominent jazz trumpeter, had posted a since gone-viral video of the confrontation. “He's the sweetest, most genuine kid you could ask for,” Harrold said in an interview that Monday evening. “I was just appalled at how he was treated.”

Trump Signs The Pandemic Relief Bill

In a statement, Pres. Trump repeated his frustrations with the COVID-19 relief bill for providing only $600 checks to most Americans instead of the $2,000 that his fellow Republicans already rejected; similarly, Trump also complained about what he considered unnecessary spending by the government at large, ABC7 reported. "I will sign the Omnibus and Covid package with a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed," Trump said.

Trump's Photo Of The Wrong Medal

Pres. Trump tweeted out a video this past Monday night that had a Nobel Prize superimposed over it, even though he’s never won one. The video in question didn’t seem to include the correct image of the medal either. The clip in question by the Pres, who has so far refused to concede that he lost the 2020 election to President-elect Joe Biden, lauds him for “[standing] for America,” among other things, TheWrap reported. The unexplained Nobel Prize appears toward the end of the minute-long video, after a title card that declared, “Trump stands for peace.”

Bernie Sanders Siding With Trump

"That's great!" Bernie Sanders responded to Pres. Trump's demand for $2,000 Stimulus Checks in a tweet on December 22. "I first introduced a bill to provide a $2,000 direct payment with @SenKamalaHarris & @EdMarkey 7 months ago. Now, Mr. President, get Mitch McConnell and your Republican friends to stop opposing it and we can provide working class Americans with $2,000. Let's do it."

McConnell On House Plan To Increase Stimulus Checks:

“Socialism for rich people is a terrible way to help the American families that are actually struggling,” McConnell said on the Senate floor this past Thursday. “Let me say that again. Borrowing from our grandkids to do socialism for rich people is a terrible way to get help to families who actually need it.”

Trump's New Year's Eve Speech

Pres. Trump on New Year's Eve posted a video to Twitter celebrating the COVID-19 vaccine, Operation Warp Speed, and the U.S. economy. "In the face of great challenges this year, Americans showed incredible grit, strength, tenacity and resolve," Trump said at the beginning of the nearly 5-minute long video. "As long as we remain loyal to our nation, devoted to our citizens and faithful to almighty God, we know that the best is yet to come."
