And it's no surprise considering how Pelé played in four World Cups and is the only player in history to win three. “Everything that we are, is thanks to you,” Pelé's daughter Kely Nascimento wrote in a post on Instagram, under an image of family members holding Pele’s hands. “We love you infinitely. Rest in peace.” Pelé will surely be missed by many.

Pele was laid to rest in the world’s tallest cemetery. Located in Santos, Brazil, the Ecumenical Memorial Necropolis is 14 floors high. Two bronze statues of Pele flank the entrance to the memorial site. Pele mourners will visit the 9th floor, reportedly chosen to honor his father, who once wore a number 9 jersey. Despite holding the record for the tallest cemetery in the world, the owners have plans to more than double the height up to 32 stories.
